Love Stories For the Quarantined

Finding yourself with a little more downtown than usual? Instead of dwelling on the obvious I’m choosing to take this time to catch up on all the things I’ve been blaming my busy schedule for not tending to; organizing my pantry, finishing the laundry, cleaning the windows. But when I’m looking to toss on a feel good love movie, there’s almost too many to choose from. So our Love Experts have curated this list of the Best Love Stories in film for your isolated viewing pleasure.

8. Westley and Buttercup (The Princess Bride)

Lets just cut to the chase, any man who responds with “As you wish” is a keeper in our books. This love story has us daydreaming of adventure, destiny, and true love’s magic.

7. Ted and Audrey (The Lorax).

This Dr. Suess book-turned-to-film isn’t really a love story. Its an incredible tale of a boy’s journey to find a tree. But that journey begins all to impress a boy’s first love, which we find irresistibly relatable.

6. Noah and Ally (The Notebook)

We know, this is a little cliche but we can’t get enough of this love story. And isn’t it every couple’s goal to spend a lifetime together the way these two do? Winnie the Pooh said once “If you live to be a hundred, I hope to live to be a hundred minus one day so I never have to live a day without you”. Thats the kind of love story these two share.

5. Mona Lisa Vito and Vincent Gambini (My Cousin Vinny)

While the plot may not seem like the basis for a love story, this is truly one of the greatest (love) films of all time. Mona Lisa Vito shows every woman how to stand by her man, even when he’s being contemptuous. And ‘she’s cute too, huh.” Plus, when they work as a team they are the best versions of themselves and THAT is love goals.

4. Jack Skellington and Sally (The Nightmare Before Christmas)

You know how you, like, start getting all existential and stuff and you go on this major quest to find what was there all along? Yeah, Jack does too. This sweetest love story shows how when you truly love someone, you support them even when you disagree and you tell them and they don’t listen and then turns out if they did they could have avoided a LOT of chaos of course but you don’t rub it in because...when its love thats meant to be thats what you do.

3. Miss Mona and Sheriff Ed Earl (Best Little Whorehouse in Texas)

When the Sheriff and the Madame are having a fling, things get complicated in town. But this love story between a woman who doesn’t think she deserves love, and a man who can’t help but love her, will have you swept off your feet. Besides, its Dolly Parton so pretty much every scene is gold.

2. Prince Akeem and Lisa McDowell (Coming to America).

This isn’t your average “charming prince disguises himself to find an American girl” story, though we do love a good one (shoutout to The Prince & Me). This is a classic, full of an incredible cast and amazing dialogue. But its the palpable connection between this humble prince and this kindhearted woman that has us rooting for their union to the last unveiling.

1. Mickey and Mallory Knox (Natural Born KIllers)

Warning, this Oliver Stone movie is not for the faint-hearted. But we came for the love and there may be no more a fated love story than theirs. And nothing can stop fate.
